Broadloom Carpet

Broadloom carpeting is any type of carpet that is woven on a wide loom. It is very common in residential homes and is typically soft and tufted. Broadloom carpet is usually sold in rolls and installed from wall to wall for a seamless look.

Broadloom carpeting comes in a variety of different colours and materials. While it can require some maintenance to keep it clean, it’s known for being soft and cosy underfoot. This is an excellent way to add warmth to your home.

Carpet Planks

Carpet planks, which are very similar to carpet tiles and carpet blocks, are easy to install and allow you to combine different colours to create your own designs. They are commonly used in commercial settings as they don’t require much maintenance and can be easily cleaned. They are also an excellent choice for non-permanent flooring solutions, such as at trade shows and expositions.

Four Main Elements of Carpeting

  • Fibre: This refers to the type of material the carpet is made from. Popular options include nylon, polyester, cotton, and wool. Synthetic materials are typically more affordable than natural fibres.
  • Pile: The pile is the way in which the fibres are arranged. Piles affect both the softness and the density of your carpet.
  • Grade: The grade of your carpet reflects its overall quality. Typically, carpets are categorised into low-grade, medium-grade, and high-grade. As a general rule, the higher the grade of carpet, the higher the carpet price.
  • Backing: Carpet backing is the material on the underside of the carpet. It serves as a barrier between the floor and the carpet padding, providing a surface for the fibress to attach to.
